How to treat eye pain often felt by babies

Treatment of eye pain in infants must be adjusted according to the cause. So don't rush and give medication without precautionary measures, especially without a medical examination.

Various types of eye pain can occur in infants, ranging from mild to requiring special care. Get to know the types of eye pain commonly experienced by babies and treat them with the following explanation.

Types of eye pain in babies and how to treat it
Among various types of eye diseases, there are three types of eye pain that are often experienced by babies. The following is an explanation of the three types of eye pain in infants and how to treat them:

Red eye

Red eye or conjunctivitis occurs when the conjunctiva becomes inflamed due to irritation, allergic reactions, viral infections or bacterial infections. The red eyes that a baby feels usually start with an itch that causes the baby to rub his eyes more often and swell on one or both of his eyelids.

There are many ways to treat red eye in infants, depending on the cause. If red eye is caused by inflammation caused by dust, you can clean and compress baby's eyelids with a warm compress. This red eye condition disappears on its own in a few days.

But if red eye is caused by a bacterial infection or allergy, you should see your baby to see a doctor. Indeed, conditions encountered by infants may require treatment, such as ointments or eye drops with antibiotics or anti-inflammatory properties.

Blocked tear ducts

Dirty tear ducts are a common condition in infants. This condition can occur because the baby's tear ducts have not fully developed. Lacrimal tract obstruction is characterized by watery eyes and cerebrovascular accidents. Although not dangerous, this condition can increase infection and red eye complaints that recur if left untreated.

Tear obstruction in infants can be treated independently at home, pressing both corners of the eye with warm water. After that, do a light massage on both sides of the nose, press down gently into the nostrils. You can repeat this method 5 to 10 times a day to clean the remaining tears. Remember to always wash your hands before and after looking after your baby's eyes.

Cockeye

Strabismus or strabismus is a condition in which the position of the eyeball is not aligned. In infants aged 0 to 6 months, strabismus is normal. This condition is often called pseudotropy (false strabismus).

Pseudotropy can occur because the folds in the corners of the baby's eye or the nasal bone have not fully developed, so by observing one object, the baby's eyeball movements will move and give the impression of strabismus.

This condition will improve on its own when the baby gets bigger. No need to manage anything.

But if the eyes narrow, the baby may interfere with the eyeball muscles, which are usually caused by hereditary or genetic factors.

Narrow eyes in infants caused by eye muscle disorders can be treated with special care or surgery. Surgery is the last step if other methods fail, and usually only after 6 years.

Although this often happens, baby's eye pain should not be underestimated. There are various treatment options to overcome, depending on the cause. Therefore, continue to consult with your doctor if you notice any complaints in Petite's eyes, so that they can be treated appropriately.

Cirrhosis

Definition of cirrhosis Cirrhosis is a condition of liver damage due to scar tissue formation. This scar tissue is formed due to a prolonged liver disease, for example due to hepatitis virus infection or alcoholism. Viral infections or excessive alcohol consumption can slowly damage the liver. The liver will repair the wound by forming scar tissue. If the damage continues, more scar tissue will form and interfere with liver function. If it occurs for years, cirrhosis can cause liver failure, so the liver does not function properly. But if the cause is treated, the development of cirrhosis can be stopped or slowed.
